PROFESSOR UTOPIA
MUSICAL FANTASY
Three centuries ago, in a windswept and war-ravaged corner of Eastern Europe, a circus illusionist lifts the hearts of children with his mesmerizing and extraordinarily life-like apparitions. But his son falls utterly in love with the most beautiful apparition of them all, tragically unaware that it is not as real as it seems.
With its Slavonic-style score and clashing larger-than-life characters, Professor Utopia is a lavish musical fantasy, offering countless choreographic opportunities for dance to depict the illusionary elements of the story.

JONATHAN KALDOR
It all started at 5 years old when Jonathan's first visit to the Bristol Hippodrome ignited an obsession for the theatre.
The Arts Council of England supported the concept recording of Jonathan's first musical, the award-winning fantasy Professor Utopia. Opening the Vivian Ellis Gala at the London Palladium, Jonathan’s score won the Mercury Development Prize.
Next, ICON began with a rehearsed reading starring Susannah York at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End before a fully staged production at the Landor Theatre. The New York Musical Festival hosted the American premier starring Tony-winning legend Donna McKechnie.
On television, Jonathan's scores have been aired in Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Israel, Taiwan and South Africa, and, for Happy Feet Stories, he provided audio book scores of The Selfish Giant and EarthDances.
Jonathan relocated to the US in 2012, now residing in New York City. Originally trained as a baritone, he regularly "dusts off the pipes", recently singing with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in the new recording of The Count of Monte Cristo, playing Faria, a role he then sang in the subsequent staging at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood.
If you believe in every word you say, the belief that shines between the lines says more by far.

PERFORMANCE
Inspired by the great Broadway baritone, George Hearn, Jonathan began classical singing tuition in the UK, and can be heard as the tyrannical Colonel Svanska on the cast recording of Professor Utopia, and as the militant Rico in ICON. Most at home in character parts, he jumped at the offer to sing 'Abbé Faria' with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in the new recording of Yves Dessca and Griffith Frank's The Count of Monte Cristo and its subsequent Hollywood staging, which marked Jonathan's US professional stage debut.
